Midlands Veterinary Physiotherapy offers a mobile service primarily within a 30 mile radius from the A50/A38 interchange in Willington, Derbyshire. This typically covers most of Derbyshire, East Staffordshire, and certain parts of Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. However if you are further afield, please do still get in touch so that Hannah can discuss different options with you.
Appointment times
Appointments can usually be booked on week days from 8am to 4.30pm starting time with some later evening appointments up to 6.30pm and Saturdays available on request where required. Hannah tries to be as flexible as possible with her working hours so that she can usually accommodate most people's requirements. Her diary spaces are also carefully managed every week so that she can always endeavour to see your horse within as short a time as possible for any non-routine visits, but it is recommended that clients pre-book their routine appointments in advance wherever possible to help with this forward planning.
As an approximate guide to the length of appointments, it is recommended that you allow up to 90 minutes for your first session and then 60-75 minutes generally for any future appointments.
Veterinary consent
In accordance with the Veterinary Surgeon's Act 1966 and Exemptions Order 2015, the remedial treatment of a pre-existing condition by any practitioner requires prior consent from the veterinary surgeon who has first examined the animal. This means that in all cases where a horse is being seen for physiotherapy for the treatment of any clinical condition, injury, or for post-surgical rehabilitation, then Hannah will need to have a direct referral from your vet. Hannah has good working relationships with the equine practices in the area so please contact her to discuss how she can arrange this for you. Alternatively you can download and forward the form below to your vet for completion and then email this back to Hannah when making your appointment.
For the purposes of musculoskeletal maintenance care or performance development in a sound, healthy horse (without any previously diagnosed conditions), then specific consent by the animal's veterinary surgeon is not required. Your horse must still be registered with a veterinary practice for such physiotherapy work to be undertaken though, and in line with best practice, Hannah will contact your vet to notify them of the intention to see the horse for maintenance purposes. In addition, if there is any indication that there might be an underlying injury, lameness, disease, or other health concern with your horse at any stage, then physiotherapy treatment would need to be stopped and your horse referred back to your veterinary surgeon for appropriate investigation of the issue. Please refer to our terms and conditions and privacy policy for further information.
